SI-TEX ROLLS OUT ITS FIRST HYBRID
SI-TEX Marine Electronics has launched its new
NavStar Series multi-function displays. Two new units,
the 10 inch display NavStar 10 and the 12 inch NavStar 12, combine advanced radar, sonar, chartplot-ting and entertainment functions in a compact and
rugged system that meets SI-TEX’s professional standards for performance and reliability.
The new NavStar Series is the first SI-TEX MFD to offer
the versatility of hybrid touchscreen operation, allowing navigators to access all of the
unit’s advanced features via simple touchscreen or traditional controls. At the heart of each
of these systems is a powerful Cortex A9 1.6 GHz Quad Core processor for fast, seamless
operation even when utilizing multiple functions simultaneously on the four-way split
screen display. NavStar’s versatility is further enhanced by its built-in Bluetooth connectivity
and wireless LAN.
Navigators will appreciate NavStar’s powerful 4 k W dual-range radar capability that lets
them view both close-in and far-away targets at the same time, for enhanced safety and situational awareness in all conditions. The built-in chartplotter provides radar/chart overlay
capabilities with all the advanced navigation features and content-rich detail of trusted C-MAP 4D cartography.

angles and reducing blackouts when wearing polarized glasses. It is powered by Raymarine’s new LightHouse 3 operating system and sports a fast, quad core
QUATIX 5 SPORTS NEW FEATURES
Garmin has introduced the quatix 5 marine GPS
smartwatch. The marine watch provides compre-
hensive boat connectivity with compatible Garmin
chartplotters and other marine electronics to offer
autopilot control, remote multi-function display
(MFD) waypoint marking, data streaming, including
speed, depth, temperature and wind, sail racing
assistance, and much more. In addition to pre-
loaded marine-specific feature sets, the quatix 5 also
includes a host of built-in activity profiles for land
and water sports like running, hiking, biking, swim-
ming, rowing, and paddle boarding, to name a few.
With an extended battery life, daily activity
tracking, smart notifications, and Garmin Elevate
wrist heart rate technology, the quatix 5 can be
worn 24/7 and easily transitions from water to land.
Built to withstand the harsh marine environment,
the quatix 5 features a rugged yet sleek design with
a stainless steel bezel, buttons and rear case that’s
more compact than previous models.
When paired with onboard Garmin electronics,
the quatix 5 can stream NMEA 2000 ® boat data to
give users access to important sensor information
like speed, depth, temperature, wind data and
more. When paired with a GHC 20 autopilot control
unit, it can be used to control the autopilot to
change heading, engage heading hold, steer to an
active GPS route, and initiate patterns so that users
can maintain control of the vessel, even if they’re
not the one at the helm.
