Marine Electronics Conference & Expo—listen up! The event has been extended to four
days in order to offer dramatically expanded manufacturer technical sessions in addition
to an updated roster of seminar topics, a two-day product expo, and the popular
NMEA/ABYC trainings and NMEA installer courses.
For those who’ve already signed up, congratulations—you’re about to get a giant bang
for your buck. Attendees can participate in the lineup of NMEA sessions as well as those presented by RTCM—the Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services.
Day one & two:
Day one and Day two of the
conference will be packed with
NMEA and RTCM sessions,
ranging from Marine Satellite
TV Solutions and Transducer
Installations to Maritime Cybersecurity and the El Faro Investigation Report. One NMEA session will offer a hands-on
demonstration of properly fitting field-installable connectors.
Another session will describe
the importance of including
safety devices as part of a vessel’s electronics package. Education sessions will end before the

A major change from past
annual events is the expanded
training sessions on
Thursday and Friday.
Tuesday, 9/25 & Wednesday, 9/26
TWO DAYS OF
Day three will consist exclusively of 75-minute NMEA Manufacturer Level 1 & 2 trainings
offered by SI-TEX, Maretron,
Digital Yacht, Siren Marine,
Vesper Marine, GOST, Nobel-tec, Wave WiFi, Intellian, Shakespeare, Shadow-Caster Lighting, Cojali USA, Glomex, Lumishore, Actisense, Hatteland,
Globalstar, BENEQ and KVH.
Day four: Plus:
Day four will consist exclusively
of four-hour NMEA Manufacturer Level 3 trainings from
Furuno, CZone/Power Products, FLIR/Raymarine, Garmin
and Simrad/ Lowrance/B&G.
Another new feature will be informal “Office Hours,” where attendees are invited to participate in discussions about various topics. One will be led by NMEA Director of Standards Steve
Spitzer focusing on NMEA 2000, including procedures for designing certified products.
Another will be Atlantic Marine Electronics’ Todd Tally giving his take on the benefits of becoming a NMEA Master Dealer. Bring your comments and questions.
Thursday evening marks the annual banquet and presentation of the NMEA Product of
Excellence Awards and NMEA Technology Award. And if that’s not enough entertainment for
you, professional comedian Taylor Williamson, runner up on season eight of America’s Got Talent, will be on hand to help.
