Seattle has it all—sights, sounds,
plenty to do and food galore
They call Seattle the Emerald City, and it just happens to
be one of my favorite cities—after London, of course.
The AAA Four Diamond, award-winning Sheraton Seattle Hotel is located in the center of it all and is a gateway to the diverse sights, sounds, and experi- ences of the fabulous Northwest. The very best of the city can be found just outside the front door, from the vibrant night life and gourmet restaurants of Belltown and Pioneer Square, to world-class
shopping at upscale retailers along Pike and Pine streets to the corporate offices of Microsoft and Seattle’s own Starbucks. Talking about Starbucks, a short and flat five block walk down Pike street ( 10 minutes) will
take you into one of my other favorite places, Pike’s Place Market and
the very first Starbucks store—the birthplace, so to speak.
Most attractions are a short walk from the hotel, including the Seattle Art Museum, the Space Needle complex, which many of you will
remember as the home of Fish Expo for many years. You could go see
a show at the Fifth Avenue Theater or the Paramount Theater, be entertained by the opera or ballet at McCaw Hall. Enjoy the Seattle Symphony at Benaroya Hall, all of this just a short walk from the hotel.
Other attractions nearby include Nordstrom’s flagship store, Westlake
Center Mall, Seattle Center, the Seattle Waterfront, the underground
tour at historic Pioneer Square, Boeing and the museum of flight, Seattle Aquarium and Columbia wineries.
How about renting a kayak to explore Lake Union’s famous house-
boats, or take a day and go visit Mount Rainier, or just spend the day at
Fisherman’s Wharf or at the locks watching salmon jump up the ladders
heading for their spawning grounds?
