Traveling south
Customers in Florida and southern California can receive Puerto Rico Latin HDTV service with an Intellian i4; the antenna
tracks the service’s single satellite
and provides both HD and SD programming. As the customer travels
south, the signal only gets better,
versus the North American HDTV
service, which has a smaller footprint and loses strength further
south. This service works all the way
down to Trinidad, Venezuela, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, etc. Intellian recommends researching the
channel lineup of service providers
before making a final decision. If a
customer wants specific channels,
they need to know what the service
provider offers or what other options
are available.
Intellian maintains a strong focus on designing and producing innovative hardware. A key component in
the manufacturing process is a stringent testing program that involves a 300-point inspection pass/fail
checklist.
tions extend beyond R&D and include sup-
ply chain management, which has enabled
purchasing and manufacturing processes to
be streamlined. The result is better price
competitiveness, which ultimately benefits
the customers.
VSAT
The marketplace for VSAT has become
quite competitive in a relatively short time for
both hardware and service providers. In early
2010, Intellian entered the VSAT market with
its v-Series product line that features the
60cm v60. Before launching the v-Series, the
product line was tested in the harsh North Sea
and Bering Sea environments. The resulting
products were designed to not only withstand
extreme conditions, but to provide convenient part positioning for greater accessibility
through the dome hatch. While at sea, it is
crucial to be able to safely change a belt or
switch parts, such as adding more power with
a higher watt BUC. The v-Series antennas
offer “plug and connect” installation that is
typically completed in about three hours, providing immediate signal acquisition,
unmatched RF performance and are built to
stringent ET standards.
Intellian’s success in manufacturing VSAT
antenna hardware is an advantage in relation
to VSAT airtime service. As VSAT airtime service plans become more competitive, offerings
will change, providing the customer with the
power to choose which airtime plan fits their
needs without simultaneously committing to
both hardware and service plans for a fixed
amount of time.
