Intellian
Focus on the customer
through innovation and
stringent testing
Intellian manufactures technologically advanced and easy-to-use marine satellite antenna systems for satellite TV and VSAT communications. In the process the company has increased the competitive spirit within the satellite antenna industry, while garnering sig- nificant market share in recent years. A fairly young company, Intellian began with a 45cm satellite TV antenna model for the pleasure boat market. Now it has a full line of over 28 satellite TV and VSAT antenna models. Recently achieving the installation of its 13,000 antenna in five short years, Intellian plans to keep up the momentum.
An important company distinction is Intellian’s focus on hardware; designing innovative
antennas that meet today’s standards of durability through stringent military-level testing standards keeps its solutions on the cutting edge. Intellian’s internal software solutions are proprietary
and self-contained, such as patented algorithms to ensure a faster acquisition and hold of the
satellite signal, regardless of external conditions or vessel location. Intellian continues to demonstrate its abilities within the marine satellite communications industry through technological
advancements in antenna design, R&D processes and manufacturing prowess.
In the beginning
Intellian Technologies was founded in
2004 by a talented group of professionals and
engineers in the field of business, satellite,
military, and aerospace. The story starts when
four engineers were commissioned for a project designing a satellite communications
antenna for an established and respected
company in the satellite communications
industry. The combined work experience and
education of the engineers led them to design
and patent two specific technologies that
would enable a satellite antenna to both track
and hold the satellite signal quickly and consistently. The engineers recognized the potential of such technology in the global marine
industry. The dream of starting their own
company turned into reality when the engineers partnered with other business-minded
contacts—by reaching out to an old friend
who recognized the potential of the technology at hand.
As a way of maneuvering through a highly
competitive market with tough barriers of
entry, Intellian in 2005 became the exclusive
OEM supplier in the US for a well-known
marine electronics company. With the patent
application process already in motion for both
its WRS (Wide Range Search) and DBT
(Dynamic Beam Tilting) technologies, Intellian quickly entered the scene as a credible
competitor in marine satellite antennas.
The company’s Irvine, CA, office opened in 2008 to versee its network of 150 U.S. dealers.
