ACR Nauticast B
An easy-to-install AIS with a data power
cable and VHF and GPS antennas, Nauticast B allows users to announce identity,
position, speed and course over ground
to oncoming traffic—a safety advantage
especially in low-visibility conditions.
The Nauticast B AIS RS232 and RS422
NMEA electrical interfaces communicate
data directly through the user’s chartplotter or laptop. USB adapters are available
for laptop operators. The RS422 can
interface with an NMEA multiplexer so
AIS targets can be displayed on various
manufacturers’ chartplotters.
The Nauticast B AIS also features a
remote Safety Related Message (SRM)
AIS
send button that saves the precise coordinates of an emergency incident and
immediately generates a safety distress
message to surrounding vessels. The SRM
can be configured to allow users to operate in a stealth mode by only receiving
AIS data and not sharing for added security to avoid being noticed by pirating
vessels.
The included VHF band antenna is
factory-tuned to optimize receive-and-send frequency ranges. Fifteen feet of
cable and PL259 connectors are
included.

PC Navigator
Smarter Track PC Navigator software is fully
AIS compatible and will accept an overlay of
AIS target data from any compatible receiver
or transponder. AIS targets can be colored,
prioritized and scaled as you zoom in and
out (assuming the AIS user has entered the
correct details into their AIS transponder).
Every target can be labeled, and one click on
a target will immediately present you with
the vessel’s call sign, name, course, speed and
MMSI identity data. Most importantly, targets are instantly colored red if they are predicted to be on a collision course, and the
system calculates Closest Point of Approach
(CPA) and Time to Closest Point of
Approach (TCPA).
Support for all of the latest AIS data such
as Search and Rescue and Aids to Navigation
(AtoN) is included along with interfaces for
the entire range of Digital Yacht AIS receivers
and transponders. This allows the Smarter-Track PC Navigator software to disable the
send function on a Class B transponder as
well as instigate a Safety Related Message
(SRM), which effectively sends an automatic
Mayday through the transponder.
