Simrad announces that its BR24 Broadband Radar won Motor Boating Magazine’s Best of the Year Award and the NSE12 multifunction marine display received Hon- orable Mention in the Consumer Electronics category of the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Innovation Awards at this year’s Miami International
Boat Show.
“We are thrilled to have two Simrad Yachting products recognized for innovation in
the same week,” said Leif Ottosson, president and chief executive officer, Navico. “The
overwhelming accolades Simrad Yachting and our other brands, Lowrance and B&G,
continue to receive are a testament to our commitment to design new, truly innovative
and game-changing electronics that improve the overall boating experience as well as
on-the-water safety. We are excited about our product roadmap and hope to continue
driving innovation in the marine market, and would like to thank the industry for its
continued endorsement of our efforts and company mission.”

lives on the water better, safer, cleaner and more fun. The award adds to a list of honors bestowed upon the BR24 to date, including the 2009 NMEA Technology Award, 2009
NMMA Innovation Award, Sail Magazine’s 2009 Freeman K. Pittman Award, the 2009
EDN Innovation Award for “best application of RF design” and special mention in the
marine electronics category of the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) DAME Awards.
The world’s first recreational marine Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW)
radome, the BR24 is available under the Simrad, Lowrance and Northstar brand names
and represents the next generation of radar safety, affordability and ease of use. Combining straightforward installation, flexible antenna placement options, 24 nm range
and low power draw, the BR24 Broadband Radar is the clear choice for coastal and inshore navigation.
NMMA’s Innovation Awards program, judged by Boating Writers International (B WI),
recognizes products that best meet the criteria of “innovative distinction from other
products currently being manufactured; benefit to the marine industry and/or consumer; practicality; and cost-effectiveness.”
